Westborough Badminton Club Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Westborough Badminton Club started in 1967 when a group of players had to find another venue as their previous club had folded. So they decided to form their own club which soon became a well known addition to the local badminton circuit.

The first home for the club was the now demolished Westborough School Hall from where the club took its name. When this building was knocked down it was agreed that the club play in the brand new Westborough Sports Centre (now known as The Astor of Hever Sports and Leisure Complex.) being built on the same site. So in 1973 the club moved into much bigger and better facilities staying there until August 2008.

In September 2008 the club transferred to at The Maidstone Leisure Centre, Mote Park when the Astor of Hever School closed down the Sports Hall to outside users.

Westborough has regularly run mixed, men’s and ladies teams in the Rainham Badminton League and enjoyed many successes and some disappointments over the last 40 years

It has always been a very sociable club, enjoying many varied social events, including fun tournaments, end of season meals and quiz nights. We continue to enjoy our club nights where we have fun competing against other club members.

Please feel free to contact our secretary via our contacts page to arrange a visit to our club evening.
